How this works
Your image is analyzed by a self-hosted, open-source image classifier (Ateeqq/ai-vs-human-image-detector, Apache 2.0 licensed) running on our own server — not a third-party paid API. There's no per-check cost, which is why this tool is free, but it also means it's working with a smaller model than commercial detectors use.
Why results are a signal, not a verdict
Every AI-image detector, including this one, is a statistical guess — none are fully accurate, and open, self-hosted models are generally less accurate than paid commercial detectors trained on larger, more frequently updated datasets. An independent 2026 benchmark study of open-source detectors found that images from current-generation tools like Flux, Midjourney v7, and Firefly v4 can defeat most open detectors, dropping real-world accuracy to roughly 18–30% even when a model reports 90%+ accuracy on its own curated test set. Treat every result here — AI-flagged or not — as one data point worth weighing, not proof.
What it doesn't do
This tool does not perform facial recognition or try to identify who is in an image. It only estimates whether the image's pixels look statistically consistent with AI generation — nothing more.
